Fun Halloween Looks for Long Locks (Part 2- Magical Mermaid) x Irresistible Me

Hey everyone! --

Happy Halloween!!!!!

For Part 2, of this Halloween post with Irresistible Me I decided to transform into a Mermaid of course! When I think of long hair, I think mermaid hair. So it only seemed fitting to include a mermaid post! Also, let's be honest, if there's any excuse to dress up like a mermaid I'll do it. I think it's soo fun to go crazy with glitter and all the pearls and jewels I can find! I wish I could be a mermaid every year and I tend to go a little crazy with the glitter, so every Halloween I try to find the most sparkly costumes so I can have a little fun with it. Last year, my actual costume was a mermaid. My best friend and I made matching mermaid costumes and we spent so much time working on every detail and making sure they looked just right. There was a moment where we were standing together in our bathroom before the costume party just throwing glitter at each other haha. It was perfect. I will include a photo of us as mermaids last year. This year, I'm not a glittery creature I'm going as Eve and my fiance is WALL-E. He made both of our costumes because he's just that amazing.

Also (back to hair) this hairstyle is the easiest! For a mermaid, waves are idea but in reality when you think mermaid you think length, period. So you can rock the mermaid costume whether your hair is straight, wavy or curly.

For makeup, this costume is so fun! You can really make the look however you want. I used a lot of loose glitter that you can buy at any craft supply store. Don't be glitter shy! You can also add some makeup setting spray to wet your skin and apply jewels or pearls wherever you want to place them to look like magical scales.

For a costume, as I mentioned earlier I had a mermaid costume that I made last year out of a bra, a bodycon skirt, some tulle, some glue, a whole lot of jewels and seashells. If you don't have a mermaid costume, you can always wear skirt and a bathing suit top, or a top or dress that is iridescent, or even a shirt with a mermaid on it. I just happened to have a very mermaid-esque pair of earrings and starfish bracelet in my jewelry collection. I thought these added a very nice touch to the look!

Now to get the look:

Needed: curling wand, wave spray, a mermaid headpiece or accessory, gold chain, clips or bobby pins

If you're using extensions for this look, clip 'em in before you get started! Then make sure hair is nice and brushed. For this post I wore my  Irresistible Me Royal Remy clip-in hair extensions in the color Royal Platinum Blonde (613) 22 inch length
Then you just curl large sections of your hair around a wand to create a loose curl. I have a spiral curling wand that I use for every hairstyle so really any wand will do! Then you brush out the curls with your fingers to get a nice wave.
I then played with my hair a bit and sprayed a little wave spray in my hair to create some volume and texture.
I wanted my mermaid to have some accessories, so I chose to add a large pearl headband/tiara and I also took a gold chain that I bought at Michael's and used a small hair clip to clip it onto my hair behind my ear.
You can use whatever you like! There is a ton of mermaid inspiration out there so I know you'll find something you like even if you don't like the way this looks!
I hope you all have an amazing, fun and safe Halloween,
full of many treats!

Eye-Lash Wishes

Hey everyone--

If you don't have a tulle skirt and you love feeling like a princess...
YOU NEED A TULLE SKIRT

I've been eyeing them for awhile now and I finally got one. And, if you're worried about it being too fancy, pair it with a fun tee and you have an effortlessly fashionable outfit! (Or at least I think so ha ha)

But in all seriousness, I couldn't stop s p i n n i n g around in this skirt!
& It's a gorgeous color. I love pale pink.. so pretty!

P.S-  I hope you enjoy little Pistachio in the last photos. He really wants to get his paw in the fashion blogging door. He's been sneaking in all of my shoots recently.

Have a sweet day!

Cotton Candy Stand

Hey everyone--

For this post, I've collaborated with Dresslink, an online fashion retailer! They have a great selection of two of my favorite trends for summer:
& 2. Retro Frames
(I seriously love these sunglasses, they're so fun! :D :D :D And what a great shade of pink!)

Snag them for yourself on their site, everything is sooo affordable! Now, they're located outside of the US, but the shipping time was not bad at all, I was really happy with it! .. Took about 3 weeks to arrive!

Also, these are my favorite earrings everrr. I've been waiting to show them off on the blog for awhile now. They look and feel like real cotton candy. They're fuzzy and tiny and so realistic looking. I love 'em!

Have a sweet day!

On Trend: Two-Piece Sets

Hey everyone--

Are you loving the two-piece set trend as much as I am? I love their retro vibe and their style. They allow you to show a little skin and stay cool, but not bare it all-- which is perfect for summer! DressLink, an online apparel store has a huge selection of these sets! All of the ones pictured above are from DressLink! They're adorable and affordable. They have some special offers going and they have a cash coupon that offsets 15% of product price and that's pretty cool!

The items that I chose are:
1. Yellow Two Piece Skirt Set (the third from the right above)
2. Blue Two Piece Crop Set (the one on the right end above)

Happy shopping! Check 'em out!

Have a sweet day!

Thankful 4.16.15

It's sad how unappreciative I can become when I've a hard week. I'm thankful for the people in my life who encourage me to keep looking up.

What are you thankful for?

Have a happy weekend!

Thankful 4.9

Hey everyone--

I am so thankful for those little unexpected moments of happiness in life.

Like when a bad day ends in joyful conversation, or when you realize a shrub that has been bare all winter is now a blooming rose bush! I have beautiful roses outside of my apartment that I've been enjoying on my way in and out. They just showed up one day, like most good things do. I cherish those surprises and tiny joys.

What are you thankful for this week?

Hey everyone--

I'm starting a new series on the blog to help cultivate a thankful spirit. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but I haven't been sure how to go about it.

Black x White

Hey friends--

It has been a rough couple of weeks here lately. Thank you, thank you to all who have sent well wishes!

Brrrr it's also been so cold in my little corner of the world. I have to layer up every morning before leaving the house. I love finding cozy pieces like this cape/poncho that makes bundling up look a little cuter. Plus it makes me feel like I'm wearing a blanket all day & I am A-okay with that.

Stay warm everyone!

IVY Bridal Studio Collaboration

Hello lovely friends--

Have you seen The Great Gatsby? You know the scene where Daisy Buchanan enters the film and Nick Carraway is blinded by a sea of white. When the angle shifts, it's easy to see why he was captivated by the flowing chiffon curtains and the sparkling crystals hanging off of Daisy's dainty arm. When I first stepped foot into IVY Bridal Studio I was immediately transported to that dreamy Daisy Buchanan-like state. The space was so inviting and the dresses were absolutely breathtaking. My heart found a new favorite with each sparkle that caught my eye.

Jackie Trucco created IVY Bridal Studio to give brides a truly unforgettable experience. I had the pleasure of spending time with Jackie and hearing about her great journey. This bridal boutique had been a vision of Jackie's since she was a girl.  Now it's been thriving for a couple of years in Columbus and is only expanding!

Each dress in the store is special and handpicked.. Truly some of the most unique dresses that I have ever seen. Jackie expressed to me that she really wants her brides to be in one of a kind dresses that reflect their personality. She wants them to stand out and make whatever beautiful statement that they're hoping to make. Some of the designers they carry are Alvina Valenta, Alyne by Rivini, Blush, Hayley Paige, Modern Trousseau, Amy Kuschel and Justine M Couture. The experience is also unique. With the policy being by appointment only, each bride gets to browse without interruption. Each bride gets undivided attention and is never pressured to make a purchase. The atmosphere only adds to the experience, it makes it very personal, memorable and fun. It is definitely a no stress zone with lovely vibes all around! & Touching the dresses is encouraged! Can you ask for more in a bridal studio?

If you're engaged, congratulations! You will not regret giving the IVY Bridal experience a chance. It is appointment only so please call ahead. If you're like me and have a lot of dear friends getting engaged, do them a favor and refer them to IVY. & If you hope to plan a wedding of your own one day, keep them in mind.. I've already made metal note.

Check out their website & blog to find out more information! They're also on Instagram @ivybridal

Yay for weddings and love and pretty dresses!
Happy Shopping!
