Cotton Candy Stand

Hey everyone--

For this post, I've collaborated with Dresslink, an online fashion retailer! They have a great selection of two of my favorite trends for summer:
& 2. Retro Frames
(I seriously love these sunglasses, they're so fun! :D :D :D And what a great shade of pink!)

Snag them for yourself on their site, everything is sooo affordable! Now, they're located outside of the US, but the shipping time was not bad at all, I was really happy with it! .. Took about 3 weeks to arrive!

Also, these are my favorite earrings everrr. I've been waiting to show them off on the blog for awhile now. They look and feel like real cotton candy. They're fuzzy and tiny and so realistic looking. I love 'em!

Have a sweet day!

The Daily Sugar x Newisland Selfie Stick

Hey everyone--

So this post is pretty special for two reasons:
1. This selfie stick is super cool!
2. I'm introducing my boyfriend Fred to all of you! & He's the coolest.

We had so much fun adventuring and playing around with this Newisland Self-portrait Monopad "selfie stick". I had no idea all the things that it could do. I didn't know that you could connect your phone to the Bluetooth and control the buttons that way, but you can! It's really awesome! It has an adjustable 180 degree head, which allows you to position it according to each specific shot. It can also stretch to be crazy long.

So here's how you use it:
1. Before you use your stick make sure that it's charged and ready to go!
2. Pull the sides of the actual holder on the stick to stretch it and make room for the phone.
3. Place your phone in the holder and make sure it's secure. You can improve it's stability by using the orange rubber pad.
4. Press up on the button at the bottom of the stick to turn the stick on, a light will come on.
5. Go to the settings on your phone and turn on Bluetooth.
6. You will see the selfie-stick selection, pick this Bluetooth provider to connect to.
7. Adjust the length and angle of the stick for the pictures you want to capture.
8. Open up the camera on your phone.
9. Press the raised button on the stick to capture your pics.
10. Have fun and adventure!

Find it for yourself on Amazon!

Now to introduce y'all! The adorable guy in these pictures with me is my wonderful boyfriend Fred!

I'm so happy to introduce him to all of you and I'm really excited for you guys to see him a lot more in upcoming posts! I'm so blessed to have his unwavering support, love and care with my blog and in all things.

& He's excited for you guys to get to know him a little better too.

We hope you all have a sweet day!

Here are some of the pictures we took!

This last picture is a photo captured during a video we made using the selfie stick.

Prayers

Hey everyone--

I am starting a new kind of prayer journal and I wanted to open it up to all of my friends and readers out there! I really want to use social media in a positive, uniting way. I would love to pray and encourage you in any way that I can!

If you would like to add prayers to my prayer chain at any time, please email me: christinadawes29@gmail.com
You can also leave me a comment, whichever you prefer. However, email is the safest bet though to be sure I get it!

Also, feel free to be as specific or general as you like.

I'm super excited to start this and I hope you'll participate if you're in need or want of prayers!

Recipe: Liberty Lemonade

Hey everyone--

Here is a refreshing, patriotic drink recipe just in time for your holiday weekend. It's super simple to make and perfect to share with your friends and family as you celebrate! Give it a try this weekend!

Have a very happy 4th of July everyone!

Christina xx

Ingredients: Lemonade, Sugar, Frozen Strawberries, Frozen Blueberries

Steps: 1. Start with lemonade. I used Minute Maid lemonade that I bought already made, but feel free to make your own lemonade to start with.

2. Sweeten the lemonade with sugar. For a punch bowl size of filled lemonade, I used 1 cup of sugar. You can put however much sugar in it as needed to get it as sweet as you want.
(Skip this step if you don't want to sweeten it)

3.  Next add strawberries.

4. Then add blueberries.

5. Pour your lemonade into a glass and add a straw & enjoy!

(P.S- Be sure to drink within 24 hours because the fruit can ferment
.. or just wait to add the fruit until you're ready to drink it!
P.S.S- This warning is here because I made this mistake!)

Thankful

Thankful for our freedom!

Have a Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!

Recipe: Ooey Gooey Cookie Sandwiches

Hey everyone--

This yummy recipe is an adapted mix of two that I found on Pinterest:

I wanted to make cookie sandwiches but I wanted to fill them with a strawberry flavored buttercream because I was making them for my sweet boyfriend Fred! Strawberries are his favorite so I wanted to add some strawberry flavor to the sandwiches! I think these are a really yummy sweet treat for the summertime.

Note: These are very gooey and will melt in your hands! So keep some napkins close by!

Have a sweet day!

Christina xx

Ingredients:
Frosting: 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp strawberry puree, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1/4 cup salted butter, 2 1/2- 2 3/4 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Cookies: 2 cups flour, 2 tsp cornstarch, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 3/4 cup unsalted butter, 3/4 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 egg, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Steps:
Frosting: 1. Put the strawberry puree in a small pan and heat mixture over medium-low heat.
2. Stir occasionally and continue to let simmer until it's been reduced by about 2/3 to 3 tsp. This will take about 10 - 15 minutes.
3. Then, pour the puree in a bowl and let freeze until cool.
4. In a bowl, whip unsalted and salted butter together.
5. Mix in 1 cup of powdered sugar.
6. Blend in the reduced strawberry puree.
7. Put in the vanilla extract.
8. Add 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and continue to mix until frosting is fluffy.
9. Add an additional 1/4 cup of powdered sugar until you get the perfect fluffiness.

Cookies: 1. In a large bowl, mix the butter together until creamy.
2. Add in the brown sugar.
3. Add in the granulated sugar and mix all together until fluffy.
4. Mix in the egg.
5. Mix in the vanilla.
6. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt.
7. Add in chocolate chips and mix for about 5 seconds.
8. Cover dough with plastic wrap and let chill for at least 1 hour, 2 hours preferred.
9. Remove the cookie dough from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
10. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
11. Roll the dough into balls.
12. Bake the dough balls for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
13. Let the cookies cool for at least 30 minutes.

Then: 1. Sandwich the frosting between two cooled cookies to create the sandwich!
& Enjoy!

Candy Striper

Hey everyone--
This dress has quickly become a summer favorite for me! It really reminds me of a candy striper which makes me think of candy which makes me happy.. Maybe that's why I love it so much?!

I don't know, but I love it's contrasting colors and tie-bow around the waist! It's the perfect dress to throw on for a hot summer day or evening.
Have a sweet day!
