Plaid And Pines

Hi friends--

I hope you've all had a very merry Christmas, a happy holiday season and a bright new year! I've been sick so some of my posts have been on hold! I've been taking it easy and trying to save up my energy to spend time with my family and friends. I hope all of you have been healthy!

I've been staying pretty cozy this holiday! I love throwing on a plaid shirt and a pom pom hat on a lazy day. And I could seriously live in these BearPaw boots. Hopefully I will be back to normal soon!

I can't wait to see what adventures the new year holds!
Happy happy New Year!

The Daily Sugar x Shabby Apple

Hey friends--

Sooo tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!! I can't believe it! I'm getting ready to leave and start the holiday travels! I will be all over the map for the next couple of days. I'm so excited to visit family and friends and celebrate our joy in Christ!

I have definitely been in the holiday spirit this year, we have been baking and wrapping around nonstop around here. A red dress and some red lipstick absolutely always puts me in a festive mood! This Shabby Apple dress is the most gorgeous bright red color. I love red all year round, but it's especially nice in the winter. It's a universally attractive color, so this is going to look awesome on everyone.

I absolutely love the buffalo plaid + red trend that is popular this season! It's perfect for looking fashionable and cozy. The colors look great together too! I will definitely be wearing this trend a lot over the next couple of months. Plus, nothing says holiday style like a pop of red and some plaid, am I right?!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

The Daily Sugar x Rachel Marie Designs

Hi guys--

I wanted to show you a couple of gorgeous jewelry pieces by Rachel Marie Designs! It's always nice to add a little extra sparkle to your holiday season and a fun, statement necklace is great way to shine. My favorite of this beautiful pink jeweled drop necklace. It's such a pretty color and it catches the light just right. Down below I have a picture of another RMD necklace and it's a super versatile one! I wear it with dresses and with plaid button downs, depending on how fancy I want to be. It's another great option to accessorize your outfit for the holidays, no matter how dressed up you choose to be!

I hope you all have a great sparkling holiday!

A Cozy Morning

Hi friends!

I love running Christmas errands! December is the bestest month because I love waiting for packages, baking treats and browsing the stores. I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season!

I loveee these little furry booties! These are the "Heidi" in the color carmel. BearPaw is always on their game when it comes to comfort. They are seriously the comfiest, softest boots in the world. I get to run errands and feel like I never left my pjs and warm, cozy bed.

8 Essentials for a Winter Weekend Getaway!

Hi friends!

Today I'm sharing with you a few of my essentials to pack for a winter weekend trip! Of course everyone packs differently (I tend to over pack) but these are a few of the things that I'm taking with me on my weekend getaway trip. It's been so fun planning for this trip using the Glamping Hub Winter Weekend Getaways! The Glamping Hub is a booking website that provides you with worldwide access to unique outdoor accommodations. They specialize in all things "glamping" and their blog is so cute. I was really inspired by all of their posts.

I think packing can actually be fun when you try your best to stay organized and focused on what you might actually need/want on your stay. When it comes to wardrobe, I like to choose items that are super versatile so you can style them into different outfits, while still keeping the packing light! I found that the items I'm showing you today are awesome travel clothes/accessories for this!

Are you wanting or planning a winter weekend getaway trip of your own? I'm so excited for ours. There's nothing better than a cozy little trip away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I plan on sipping a lot of hot cocoa, while I'm wrapped in a big throw appreciating all of winter's beauty!

Here are my 8 essentials:

1. Your Comfiest Boots
Chances are, you might do a lot of walking on your trip. Even if you plan on taking it easy, you might realize there is a sight that you'd like to go see. So a really comfy pair of boots is the way to go!
2. Cozy Knit Hats
Of course I'm throwin' a hat in there. They keep you warm and stylish! These hats are so popular right now too so you can pick one up practically anywhere.
3. Festive Reading Material
When you're surrounded by the tranquility of nature, you can really get lost in a book. I think it's a great idea to bring a devotional on any trip you take, especially a weekend getaway. On a peaceful, cozy trip you can really focus on the devotion and meditation.
4. A Layering Jacket
It will probably be too cold to rely on a layering jacket as your main source of warmth, so definitely definitely definitely pack a warm winter coat too! A layering jacket is a must, because it allows you to wear a lot of layers either under or over it and it looks great too!
5. A Blanket Scarf
You gotta bring a scarf that doubles as a blanket.. double the cuddliness! I love this one of mine, it always feels like I'm leaving the house wrapped in a blankie and I'm not complainin'!
6. Twinkle Lights
Okay, so you might not need twinkle lights, but they really set the mood! I always feel more festive and relaxed in magical lighting. Plus, these were a $1 at Target!
7. Cute Thermos
A practical thermos is going to be super helpful to have on the trip to contain all of your liquids. Mine will be used for keeping my coffee hot!
8. Snuggly Throw Blanket
A soft, fuzzy throw blanket is a great item to pack to wrap up in or cover up with. It's gonna keep you warm and bundled up.
Let me know if you're planning any winter trips this season!

Hey everyone--

Today, I've teamed up with Lumsing to show you guys an awesome little stocking stuffer idea! This little guy has saved my phone's life so many times. Seriously, it's a life saver! It's a small, harmonica series dual USB portable battery charger. It has quite a long name for how tiny it is! It's an external power bank for iPhones, iPads, Samsung galaxies, you name it. Mine is in the color "Champagne Gold" but it also comes in black and white. This thing holds so much battery life in it, I've been nothing but impressed! This could make the perfect last minute gift for anyone on your Christmas list, or grab one for yourself you won't regret it!

Fun Halloween Looks for Long Locks (Part 2- Magical Mermaid) x Irresistible Me

Hey everyone! --

Happy Halloween!!!!!

For Part 2, of this Halloween post with Irresistible Me I decided to transform into a Mermaid of course! When I think of long hair, I think mermaid hair. So it only seemed fitting to include a mermaid post! Also, let's be honest, if there's any excuse to dress up like a mermaid I'll do it. I think it's soo fun to go crazy with glitter and all the pearls and jewels I can find! I wish I could be a mermaid every year and I tend to go a little crazy with the glitter, so every Halloween I try to find the most sparkly costumes so I can have a little fun with it. Last year, my actual costume was a mermaid. My best friend and I made matching mermaid costumes and we spent so much time working on every detail and making sure they looked just right. There was a moment where we were standing together in our bathroom before the costume party just throwing glitter at each other haha. It was perfect. I will include a photo of us as mermaids last year. This year, I'm not a glittery creature I'm going as Eve and my fiance is WALL-E. He made both of our costumes because he's just that amazing.

Also (back to hair) this hairstyle is the easiest! For a mermaid, waves are idea but in reality when you think mermaid you think length, period. So you can rock the mermaid costume whether your hair is straight, wavy or curly.

For makeup, this costume is so fun! You can really make the look however you want. I used a lot of loose glitter that you can buy at any craft supply store. Don't be glitter shy! You can also add some makeup setting spray to wet your skin and apply jewels or pearls wherever you want to place them to look like magical scales.

For a costume, as I mentioned earlier I had a mermaid costume that I made last year out of a bra, a bodycon skirt, some tulle, some glue, a whole lot of jewels and seashells. If you don't have a mermaid costume, you can always wear skirt and a bathing suit top, or a top or dress that is iridescent, or even a shirt with a mermaid on it. I just happened to have a very mermaid-esque pair of earrings and starfish bracelet in my jewelry collection. I thought these added a very nice touch to the look!

Now to get the look:

Needed: curling wand, wave spray, a mermaid headpiece or accessory, gold chain, clips or bobby pins

If you're using extensions for this look, clip 'em in before you get started! Then make sure hair is nice and brushed. For this post I wore my  Irresistible Me Royal Remy clip-in hair extensions in the color Royal Platinum Blonde (613) 22 inch length
Then you just curl large sections of your hair around a wand to create a loose curl. I have a spiral curling wand that I use for every hairstyle so really any wand will do! Then you brush out the curls with your fingers to get a nice wave.
I then played with my hair a bit and sprayed a little wave spray in my hair to create some volume and texture.
I wanted my mermaid to have some accessories, so I chose to add a large pearl headband/tiara and I also took a gold chain that I bought at Michael's and used a small hair clip to clip it onto my hair behind my ear.
You can use whatever you like! There is a ton of mermaid inspiration out there so I know you'll find something you like even if you don't like the way this looks!
I hope you all have an amazing, fun and safe Halloween,
full of many treats!
