Wildflower Brunch

Hey guys--
These pictures are from a recent family trip to Indiana. We passed by this gorgeous field of wildflowers and I just had to stop and get a few pictures. Looking out from one edge of the field, there was yellow as far as the eye could see. It was incredible!

(As pretty as the scenery is, I get a giggle out of these pictures because they'e comically reminiscent of The Sound of Music.. definitely no intentions there. Maybe you'll disagree, hopefully you will ha.)

The trip was wonderful, lots of family bonding time. On our way to a winery, we ended up getting lost so we stopped in a small little town to try and reroute our path. It was so fun to look through all of the antique shops. I was hoping to find a treasure for my new room but I decided to wait. However, I did find the most adorable pair of cotton candy earrings. They look so cute dangling from my ears and they even feel like cotton candy. I can't wait to show them off on the blog!

I was going to say happy Friday, but I guess it's Saturday now.
Happy weekend friends!

Online Shopping Guide: Persun (Homecoming Dresses)

Hey friends--

Thinking back on my adolescent years, school dances were the one time that I could go overboard with glamour and feel really fabulous in a fancy dress. Homecoming dances were always a favorite of mine. One of the great things about homecoming is the versatile dress choices. You could go with a shorter length for a fun and flirty look, or you could stun ‘em with an elegant longer length. With homecoming, the possibilities are truly endless!

Persun has a great collection of homecoming dresses. A few my Persun favorites are pictured above. You can’t go wrong with a lbd (little black dress). Especially if the lbd is a silk, sheath dress with a dramatic feather detail. I would suggest this dress if you are ready to kick up your heels and bring on the drama! Another one of my favorites is the printed a-line, one shoulder gown. The print is to die for and the dress is full of whimsy. If I could go back in time, I would probably wear something similar to one of my homecomings. The bottom of the dress will sweep the dance floors, making a beautiful statement. I also adore the lilac colored, one shoulder chiffon dress. The gorgeous lilac color is universally flattering. Skin tones of every color would be illuminated in this dress!

What’s your favorite homecoming look?

Happy homecoming! & Happy shopping!

Firmoo Eyeglasses Review

Hey guys--
Today is a special review post about Firmoo, a global online optical store. I recently received a pair of sunglasses and a pair of prescription eyeglasses from them. From the minute that I took them out of their protective cases, I was in love.

It's very unusual for me to like the way glasses look on my face. I find many pairs that I think look adorable in the box or on the shelf. However, it's a different story when I actually put them on. That being said, I was happy that my first impression of Firmoo glasses was good, but I knew the true test would be trying them on. I was excited to find that both pairs were greater than my expectations! The style, fit and quality of both the glasses were just right.

The sunglasses have a very glamorous feel to them. I adore the gold detail on the sides and the lenses are very protective from the sun. Out of all of the sunglasses that I own and have owned, these sunglasses have been the best at blocking out the sun's rays. They've been great to wear while driving! They've also helped prevent headaches from sun exposure that I'm prone to.

The eyeglasses have an adorable hipster, school girl vibe. The large, circle-rimmed specks are very geek-chic. I'm obsessed with the tortoise frame! I also love how they feel on. Some larger framed eyeglasses that I've owned have felt bulky and often slid down my nose. When I'm wearing my Firmoo eyeglasses, I don't have to keep pushing them up. They sit on the bridge of my nose and stay put.

I'm beyond satisfied with Firmoo's glasses. I would highly suggest them. You should check out Firmoo, they have a wide selection of frames, so you can let the inner diva or the inner nerd shine!

Sippin' Sweet Tea

Hi everyone--
Today is my first blog post for Deb Shops! I'm extremely excited to blog for them. I adore their blog and their chic collection of clothing and accessories! I wanted to put together the perfect summer look.

In a white chiffon dress and a floppy sun hat, I feel like my summer has officially begun. Just add a bauble necklace and a pair of open toe high heels and you're ready for summer fun! I love hats, especially for warm weather and I may have a slight obsession with the lwd (little white dress). I want to give a huge thanks to Deb Shops for this opportunity!

I also want to thank Maxnina, for the beautiful flower bracelet! I love it! I can't wait to wear it with all my sun dresses.

Happy long weekend friends! How can we possibly give a thanks big enough to the men and women who serve? I want to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the past, present and future soldiers of the United States military.

Online Shopping Guide: Persun (Short Formal Dresses)

Hey everyone--
When it comes to women’s formal dresses, short is the new long! With each passing year, I see the lengths at events getting shorter and shorter. In the past, long formal gowns have been all the rage.. sweeping the floors with their length. It was rare to see a short dress on a bridesmaid or at a prom. Then a few years ago, it became acceptable and even popular to wear a dress of a short length to a homecoming or a celebration. Still, they were a rare sight at proms or on wedding parties. Now, short lengths are right on trend! Shorter dresses are now accepted and adored at every fancy gathering and formal event. Ladies, you no longer have to save those sexy cocktail dresses for cocktail parties! Break out that hot little number and be the belle of your ball.

For all of you shy gals out there, have no hesitation! There is a way to rock the short length without showing too much skin. I know many girls stray away from thigh clinging lengths because they prefer a more modest, elegant look. However, I have good news! If you've secretly been dying to go a little shorter, Persun has a wonderful variety of short formal dresses. Whether you’re wanting a sweeter or a more daring look, you are sure to find the perfect dress for your style.

I've never shied away from short length dresses because I think they’re so adorable and chic! With a shorter length, you can also show off a fabulous pair of shoes. Persun really has some fun, spunky dresses. Personally, I’m in love with simple white dresses and flower appliques for summer!

Happy Shopping!

Book Clubs And Garden Parties

Hey friends--
I've had quite a busy week and this week might be even busier! However, I'm not of out of energy yet. Right now, I'm on a cleaning/organizing spree. My room might thank me. I haven't lived at home in two years. It's strange coming back and making room for new things. My home is always so peaceful. I'm happy to be away from the big city for a few months. Although, I will deeply miss the window shopping and city strolls that I've become so accustomed to.

I just moved out of my apartment and I'm so thankful that I have the family that I do. My parents helped me so much and they always go above and beyond for me. I didn't realize that I had so many things! It took a lot longer than expected to load everything up. I am so blessed to have all of things that I do. I pray that thankfulness and gratitude will be in my heart everyday. I'm very thankful for all of my blessings that I'm counting tonight!
Happy Sunday everyone!

Louise&Co. Feature + Styling

Today is a very special feature of my friend Kate Block and her shop, Louise&Co.  Kate's shop offers custom studded shorts as well as men and women's vintage clothing! Kate is such a sweet and talented lady. I was so impressed with her selection at the Columbus Spring Flea. She was by far my favorite vendor! I love going from booth to booth searching for treasures. I left the flea with an adorable pair of Lousie&Co. shorts and a yummy buckeye cupcake from the mobile cupcakery.
The day was quite a success!

I see a tremendous future for Louise&Co, Her custom cut off shorts are a must-have! Check out her Etsy store and like the facebook page to get the latest scoop!

Get to know a little more about Kate and her fabulous shorts!
CD: Where did you get the idea for Louise&Co. and how did you start your shop?
KB: I wanted to get involved in the online business world, as well as having a creative outlet, which turned into me creating handmade jewelry for my Etsy shop. Soon I realized making jewelry wasn't for me. So I went back to the drawing board and tried to think of things I enjoyed doing that could evolve into an Etsy business. I have always enjoyed thrifting and this love and ability to give vintage clothing a new purpose is what created Louise&Co. in October 2011. The name Louise&Co. came from my middle name, Louise, and hopes that one day I may be big enough for the company(or "Co.").
CD: What do you hope for the future of Louise&Co.?
KB: I feel like there is a lot in store for Louise&Co. There's so much growing that can be done and I work towards improving my shop everyday. I'm really excited because I have been talking with local boutiques and getting involved with craft shows. I think there is a lot of potential in those areas and I'm looking forward to seeing that play out. Eventually it would be my dream to have Louise&Co. become a brick and mortar store. A girl can dream!
CD: You have so many amazing shorts, what's your favorite pair that you've created?
KB: It's hard to decide which pair is my favorite, since each pair is truly unique. However, this pair is a pair of mine that I have been eyeing for myself! ha!
CD: How do you style your shorts?
KB: I think these cut off shorts are so versatile because they can be dressed up or dressed down. They are definitely a staple piece for the summer wardrobe. For a casual look, I like to style them with vintage T-shirts from my shop and combat boots to give the outfit a truly unique vibe! To dress up, pair them with a nice button down blouse and a simple sandal strap heel and you are good to go. And the best part is they can transition to colder months with a pair of tights, a shirt and parka- then you are good to go!
 ♥
I decided to style my pair of Louise&Co. shorts with a crochet top, oxford flats and a flower for my hair. I thought a vintage pin-up girl vibe would be perfect for the cut offs!
